My Fellow Americans…
As the Christmas Season approaches and a year draws to a close holding the promise of
a new year to come, there is much that the people of the United States can do to bring the
Holiday Season of light and love as an inspiration around the world.
It is not necessary for any man, woman or child to feel that they are judged by what they
can give or by why they have received. The spirit of America is not what is portrayed in
the television commercials and the sale papers that plague the mailboxes of this country
at this time of year. This is not a time to focus on how many or how much. It is a time to look within oneself and truly ask what they can do for the people of their country. It is
far more important to reach out a hand in friendship; to extend food to the hungry; to
clothe those who are freezing. This is the true spirit of America.
Do not let the corporate world dictate your heart. Do not let politics make your
decisions of charity for you. Do what Americans have always chosen to do – that which
has made this country strong. Give of yourself.
The United States has the greatest potential for ending homelessness, hunger and illness
of any country in the world. Make this your choice. As the New Year approaches, allow
it to be one where your resolution is to be a true American – to extend to all a hand of
brotherhood and compassion. Share what you have. Cease being complacent. If you
make no other resolution for the coming year; let it be that you will no longer take for
granted the freedoms that this country was founded upon – that you will hold them dear
and hold those who are elected to government to the same high standard that brought
this country the status of a world power, for it was the men, women and children that founded America, gave her heart and more importantly, gave her soul.
I bless all of you and wish you all well.
